Scythe is an upcoming movie adaptation of the novel, Scythe by Neal Shusterman. It is currently in development with Universal, and Amblin Entertainment.[1] Neal Shusterman is involved in the project as a producer.[2]
As of January 2020, Sera Gamble (Supernatural, The Magicians, You) was writing the script.[3] However she is not part of the project anymore, Neal announced in April 2020, they were looking for a new writer.[1]
In September 2020, it was announced that screenwriter and director Gary Dauberman (It, Annabelle) was adapting the film,[4] and writing the new draft.[5]
As of November 2021, the project is still in development,[6] and the script is being worked on.[7]

- Neal would want Helen Mirren or Meryl Streep to play Scythe Curie,[8] and Sir Ian McKellen as Scythe Faraday.[9]
- Neal would love to be the voice of the Thunderhead.[10]
