Arc of a Scythe Wiki

"Getting run over by a truck was perhaps the most annoying thing that had ever happened to her." — Rhonda Flowers, Scythe

Rhonda Flowers was an old classmate of Citra Terranova.

Biography[]

Early life[]

Rhonda and Citra attended school together when they were little before Rhonda moved to another city. They were together in ballet dance class, but never got along as Rhonda used to speak of her own dancing as if it were the best in the world, and would roll her eyes and exhale exasperatedly everytime Citra made a mistake while dancing.

Citra started to hold a grudge on Rhonda, and pushed her in front of truck, she was rendered deadish instantly, taken to a Revival Center, and was back in school 3 days later.

Everyone believed it was an accident, that Rhonda had tripped, and everyone at school started calling the girl Rhonda Roadkill, and no one believed her when she said she hadn't tripped, not even her parents.

Rhonda had liked the food at the Revival Center so much (especially the homemade ice cream), that some years later she splatted just to get to taste it again, but her parents sent her to a cheaper Revival Center where the food wasn't as good.

Scythe[]

Citra had felt guilty for years, and decided to tell the truth of the incident to Scythe Curie, who told her they would have to visit the girl. One afternoon while the girl was home with her mother, Curie and Citra knocked at the door, the mother thought her daughter would be gleaned but they explained to Rhonda she wouldn't.

Citra explained who she was, confessing everything to the girl, and offered Rhonda the opportunity for revenge, she could push Citra in front of a truck. Rhonda replied that while the offer was tempting, she was not interested but would like Citra to take her out for lunch or something similar some other time.

Thunderhead[]

Whilst she does not make an appearance in Thunderhead, Citra reflects on pushing Rhonda in front of a bus at one point in the story, comparing it to a gleaning where she pushes someone off a roof instead. She realizes that sadly there would be no revival this time round. Rhonda is not directly named, but it is implied that it is her. The text reads: "For it to be an official gleaning, the woman couldn’t leap on her own; Scythe Anastasia had to actually push her. Oddly, Citra found pushing the woman off the roof far more unpleasant than gleaning with a weapon. It reminded her of that terrible time when she was a child that she had pushed another girl in front of a bus. Of course, the girl was revived, and in a couple of days was back in school as if nothing had happened. This time, however, there would be no revival."
