The Founding Scythes were a group of thirteen scythes who founded the Scythedom, they consisted of:
- Da Vinci
- Gandhi
- Sappho
- King
- Laozi
- Lennon
- Cleopatra
- Powhatan
- Jefferson
- Gershwin
- Elizabeth
- Confucius
- Prometheus
Of the 13 founders, four of them were against the idea of humans controlling death (Confucius, Elizabeth, Sappho, and King). Despite this, the other nine won over and resulted in the creation of scythes. They did, however, create a fail-safe on Kwajalein Atoll, which was discovered and activated by Scythe Faraday and Munira Atrushi.
Scythe Da Vinci suspected that several of the founding Scythes did not self-glean but were murdered due to their support of the fail-safe.[1]
